I’m a professor at Osnabrück University and a member of the research group Applied Algebra and Data Analysis of the Institute of Mathematics. Since 2016 I’m the dean of my department and since 2020 the spokesperson of the deans of the Osnabrück University. The Research Unit Data Science was established at Osnabrück University in 2021 with me as its spokesperson. In 2023 the Joint Lab Artificial Intelligence & Data Science will be founded as part of a strategic partnership between Osnabrück University and the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy and here I am one of the four designated spokespersons.
Research Interests
My research interests are in applied algebra and data analysis. I’m particularly interested in their interaction with other research areas such as algebraic statistics and probability theory, combinatorics, commutative algebra, discrete geometry, machine learning, and signal processing.
